(Non) Fiction
Sunday, October 21, 2012

It's pouring outside. Droplets are beating down on the floor to ceiling window. Safe and warm in the comfort of our own home, we sit together on the sofa, nestled deep in the slouchy comfort of the velvet. Thrown over our bodies and enveloping us is a thick blanket, and only our faces peer from the fluffy mess the blanket has created. My head is snuggled against the nook of your shoulder. We are a perfect fit.

In front of us, with the window as backdrop, we are playing some movie on tv - maybe my kind of chick flick, or thrillers you love. You are holding a big wooden bowl in your hand, filled with popcorn. You pick out the bits with the most caramel on them, cause those are the ones I like. One - two - three - you feed me, unknowingly leaving yourself with the nasty white bits with no flavor. You're my selfless guardian.

The rain is still fierce and strong, I don't want it to end. After the movie I head to the bedroom, and roll in the bedsheets. Yes, literally rolling around - I love to feel the snuggly coldness of the sheets. Amused, you join me in my childish act, and we laugh at how silly we must look. You take out the crossword puzzles stashed in our bedside table, our favorite sunday activity. Lying on the bed, we prop ourselves up on our arms and compete to see who finishes their crossword first. Fueled by competition, we smile mischievously, eyes scanning across the tiny grids, brains working furiously. Three minutes later, you throw your hands up with a roar and give me a triumphant kiss - ugh, I lost again! Determined not to fall too far behind, I continue working on mine. With nothing else to do, you reach over and start massaging my shoulders, humming a random song. I feel myself melting in your hands, so I turn over and give you an appreciative smile. Your lips parted, about to say something, but I already know what it is. "You're my angel."

This is our cheesy little line, one that makes us shiver at the sheer thought of saying it. But this is also what we love, and how we love. The kind that sends tingles down your spine, the kind that makes you laugh so much, you're shaking. With happiness. When every touch is still electrifying, and you know that there's so much more to come. This is just one rainy sunday spent together, but makes for moments immortalized.

20121014 015649 from WBQ on Vimeo.

Uploading a little video I took during the event. There were a lot of people dancing in front of us, to contextualize a little. Deoksher, the dance instructor for Tara and Shinee amongst others, was teaching us Oppa Oppa and Gangnam Style. Quite fun!

I have no idea why my voice always comes out horribly high pitched in videos. :/
Magnum Opening Party
Thursday, October 11, 2012

Coming back quickly at 4.30am in the morning to give a short lil update, seeing that my blog has had some weird spike in readership of late. I don't wanna disappoint y'all I suppose.. Hurhur.

Anyway, Amanda and I were invited to go back to the ArtScience Museum for the opening of the Magnum Photos exhibit. I use the word invite loosely since we were also tasked with the lovely job of being recepts. I've done so many recepting jobs in communications and then marketing.. and found out it was really not very fun hahaha. Its so boring! And its such a pain in the ass esp when its not electronic and I have to scan through an A3 list with really tiny font.

For you folks who might be interested, this exhibit has really affordable entrance fees ($5ish for residents?) and it a collection of about 150 photos from three photogs from the photo agency Magum Photos. However I recommend y'all wait till mid november cause that's when Art of Brick comes in, and that is 1000x more exciting. Art of Brick features lego sculpter Nathan Sawaya and his stunning, ginormous lego sculptures! I can rattle about him forever cause I did some research on him while I was interning.. And Sue says they still use my research a lot.. it has been so gratifying *chokes*

Some pictures from the night!

Three of us recepts - Julie/Julia? gosh I'm really bad with names, Amanda and I. It actually shocks me a little to see my hair this vibrantly red in the outdoors. Julie/a is the current intern who will be switching full-time soon! Yay to the new addition to the museum family ^^

So we were seated outside the museum which was disgusting because there were millions of these little white flies that were hovering around us (particularly our heads) because of the lotus ponds surrounding the museum. There was probably a lot of them in the photo above, too minute to be seen. GROSS

Sue. I missed working with her so much! She is such a good person to be working for, incredibly nice and jovial?? Mwah!

With shirleen. I swear this girl has the body of a 20ish year old but the mind of a teenager. She's damn childish lor! But lovable teehee. AND ALWAYS ACTING CUTE

After she kept striking these act cute poses I felt quite left out so I started doing with her. This amanda ong, who was helping us take the photos, couldn't stop rolling her eyes and she took the photos super patronizingly so it came out all blurred!

This was the party favor for the night - polaroids that slip into these mock cameras! If you flip to the front there's actually a lens and everything. Cute.

Of course I had to take one photo w the delightful amanda, who cant seem to take a proper smiling photo. I miss bickering with her! Our epic argument will always be the correct method to consume eggs. This giant dinosaur here insists the right way to do it is by slurping it from the bowl direct (no spoons, no nothing). That is so uncivilised?! Spoons are invented for a reason!!

After the opening ceremony in the lobby ended, all guests headed down to B2 where the food and exhibition was. This is of evidently, my favourite time. FOOD. And I've missed mbs' mice food so, so much!! They are excellent. On each cocktail tables we had these cute lil black and white mnms, which are not available for sale in normal retail shops we got them specially for this event, and cld not get our hands off these adorable cuties.

Food was actually rly but the quantity was dismal! I think there was only about 100 guests and the food was supposedly for 500. To be fair there was a lot of food walking around but there was only 4 mains I could remember - a brownie, cheesecake (which was fab, it was actly a white chocolate ball with cheese inside), a cauliflower puree with black beans (tasted better than it sounds), and last but not least...

These amazing, amazing, amazing sqiud ink bruschettas. THEY WERE AMAZING!! That's clams on top. The server who was serving the bruchettas got to our table quite late so most of them were swiped, and after tasting this heavenly goodness we requested for him to return with a fresh platter. He did, and we took a few more; moments later he came back to announce they were all finished (all 500?!?!). We were DEVASTATED. Tiana took photos of it together with the name so I am praying fervently she'd get chef christie to put it on the menu for the opening party of art of brick. SO GOOD!!

I am adding these to my current list of favorite mbs canapes: beef sliders and shrimp wanton. And on occasions the wellingtons, they are hit and miss.

Julie/a, high on alcohol, decided it was time to show all of us some modeling poses. Shirleen was very keen to try them all out, since she was feeling sexy in her barney prom dress. HAHA

All the ladies! I had so much fun that night. We went back to the office and did more silly things.

Like this. HAHAHAHHA omg I can't  stop laughing. Tiana first started stuffing tissues into her nose cause she was having a flu and I laughed at her. Then somehow it progressed to us challenging each other to do the same and not laugh (very difficult cause we all look so silly and when you laugh the tissue comes flying out yr nose!). Took us forever to take a good polaroid shot.

Shirleen, Tiana and I. <3 p="p">

And our polaroid snaps for the night. Yes, this is what happens when we have a company polaroid and like, LOTS OF FILM. Hahaha. It was a blast!! I've grown to love the museum team so much.
A series of unfortunate events. Okay, just one.

The past week has been a bitch, with me unfortunately losing my mobile phone and having to go to incredible lengths to get my line and life back on track. In all my years of dealing with Singtel this was by far the worst experience with the CSOs. They are so maddeningly slow, it's painful! I was on the verge of giving them an ultimatum because on 4 occasions they have promised me rectification within 24 hours but have not delivered. Ikr, an ultimatum, hilarious.

Recess week was good as none and it flew past before it even began. I had all these lofty ambitions of finally catching up on astro and accounting, but of course all of that came to naught. I think I spent more time on my tutees hahaha. Being a tutor ain't easy.. I've been working extra hard lately and actly have to spend a lot of time typing notes and preparing for lessons. I earn my own money, okay. I'm actually quite proud of the fact that I don't live off my parents.

Abrupt end of post because this was actually written and saved as a draft a few days ago.. Yeppers.
