Long Overdue.
Day 3 night, we ordered delivery from pizza hut for their sweet and spicy drumlets. Delivery was so cheap (30 baht), we ordered 18 drumlets, fat us!! The drumlets there are way spicier though, we ate while watching bourne identity. Impressed too cause they sent it right up to our hotel room.
Day 4
We stayed in the sukhumvit area and our hotel was pretty close to Terminal 21, but thanks to the genius of the boys we walked in the opposite direction for super long without realizing we were heading in the wrong direction. And had to walk back. THANKS >:(
Anyway, themed shopping mall, with different levels representing different countries. Even the toilets were themed, which was a really nice touch. I hate the way bkk malls label their floors, M/Ground/First floors confuse me and are really just counter intuitive. Terminal 21 had a good floor of clothes and accessories, and even a Laura Mercier counter which I was happy to see. Bought two of their lippies.
At 5pm we took the BTS to saphan taksin for the ferry to asiatique across the chao praya river.
And we're there!! This place is quite confusing, as is all other boutique markets in bkk haha. I always get lost and can't remember which blocks we've shopped and which we haven't.
Affordable Japanese food. I was conned into getting the set meal, I asked the waitress if the covered bowl in the picture on the menu is chawanmushi and she was like yes, yes. But it was miso soup grr! I only got the set for the chawanmushi pfft.
After dinner we passed one of these shops and saw these cute paper model figures.. Bought one for my brother cause he actly likes and buys the plastic models to build. I bought the small ones cause the larger ones were ridiculously expensive ($30++), considering its only colored paper AND you have to assemble it yourself. Besides I think my brother wld have died building the larger ones, it looks very tedious.
I actually can't remember what things happened which night so the day labels are purely guess work. If I remember on day 4 night, I suddenly craved for mango sticky rice and was alone in the hotel (the boys were walking around the red light districts tsk) so I thought I might as well see if we could go to buy the famous sticky rice at soi 55.. Our hotel was at soi 8, so a quick google map search showed it to be 40 mins away on foot.
The weather was quite good, it was night and I was feeling energetic so I asked the boys on whatsapp if they wanted to walk.. They were like ok sure why not, wdv you want. So we walked and omfg its fucking far away and they just complained the whole way there. Gu niangs! I didn't even complain. But it was a really long walk there and back, we took 2 hours for 12 km HAHA. But it was interesting, along the way we saw a lot of those streetside pubs full of caucasian men with thai ladies..
And finally!! The lady gave rice in abundance, love it and the mango is super sweet. Normally I don't eat mangoes but this was good.
Final Day
Lunch at siam paragon's ninth cafe. This is REALLY GOOD!!! And affordable too. Great last meal.
Om nom nom
Other random snaps throughout the trip.
I bought this pair of boxers for 79 baht, so cute I cldn't resist.
On our way to platinum and pratunam market from bfast!
Our slippers. Judging from shoe size, guess which's mine? The middle. Yuppiedoodles I have bigass feet. But my slippers are a tad big for me ok don't judge hahaha I used to be really proud of my big feet and laughed at my bestie for having small feet. That was obviously before I realized small feet is a good thing.. When I did I whined to my mom. Mom why did you give me such big feet??
Our hotel had this sweet nice tuk tuk that takes us out to the main road..
On the ferry back from asiatique!
This was happy me on the way back to our hotel after walking 12 km to get the sticky rice hahaha
It was a good trip, I need to bring more money next time hahaha. I have to much to do that I haven't!! See you next time bkk!
Malaysia, sept - Cameron Highlands
Sunday, December 23, 2012
Headed to cameron quite early in the morning after a breakfast outside our house - pumped gas and we're all ready to go! Its been quite a while since the last time I went up, but tbh I'm not super keen on going there. Much rather go to Genting, probably will head there next yr!
Anyway going up was a bitch, one hour ride up the winding roads. If I were driving the vehicle I probably wld have passed out, the lanes were so narrow and cars there went so fast even though the driving limit was 50km/h? My dad kept a 70-80.
Love seeing these old sch sch buses here, the colors are so jolly hahaha
We headed to the market first cause mum wanted to buy some er, pumpkins and veggies? The produce was really fresh and everything looks so.. supple and healthy and well fed. If I were a plant I'd probably want to live in cameron highlands hahahaha
Cause today was a sat there was so many people there, esp malays! I don't want to be racist srsly but they are SO rude. This girl just shoved me twice so she could keep up with her mum - and that could obviously have been avoided if she just walked around me instead. And then when I went to the toilet, these malay girls kept staring at me?? Fuck you la bitches you think I'd just let you stare? I stared back. Hahahahaha. (I wished I wasn't such a weakling but chinese are obviously outnumbered there and I'm not dumb) But really I don't know whats their fucking problem. Even the way they stare is rude, yknw? Like looking you up and down. _|_
Here's my cute mum frowning cause she cldn't find the veggies she wanted in the store, hahahahaha
There were many lil stores selling choco strawberries, and cause all the berries are from the farms there, its really fresh and sweet. Yummy!!
And TONS of shops selling these toys and strawberry plushies, keychains, stationary, you name it. If I were a kid I'd probably go crazy.
Drove a bit further down and came to this water cress farm, and saw row upon row of these.. veggies, for lack of a better word. What are these? Lettuce? I know it isn't, but this looks super familiar. Just can't place a name on them. All of them look so healthy and fresh!
Then of course we had to go to the famous tea valley which was so far away from the main area, and it was so jammed with slow moving traffic that we took 45 minutes just to get there. There are several places there claiming to be the "tea valley" but everyone goes to this particular one with a huge cafe overlooking the tea plantation.
Stuck in the jam boredom. Sorry I knw no excuse.
I got myself an earl grey, there were more custom and original signature blends but I just had to go with one of my favs! My parents never had earl grey before, and they loved it!
You can actually walk down to the plantations to take a look but it looked very boring and started drizzling, so we just watched from atop. Really beautiful.
This is barely half the restaurant!
They had a store selling the tea sachets so I got two earl greys :)
We got back to ipoh around 6+ and went back home to switch cars, then drive out for dinner at this beef soup place? Looks like some shabby kopitiam but it is so insanely popular with the locals here! Place opens at 6pm but people start sitting around to chope tables at 5pm. And each table is given a queue number based on arrival time. My aunt reached at 6.30 thereabts and we were already number 29 hahaha
There was a satay stall nearby so I ordered some, tastes different from sg's! Not as good, and the meat is quite fatty. The meat is very soft, almost limp? I prefer the leaner, slightly tougher meat.
Assortment of fried goodies to go with our noodles. In malaysia this is how locals eat their noodles.. always with these ingredients. Much like yong tau foo? They have more fried variety though, and don't have stuff like sausages and sushi nuggets.
Star of the night were these handmade beef balls.Very yummy but I loved the soup more. It was so flavorful and at the same time light? I hate how some beef soups in sg are so thick and nasty down the throat. This was rly good. We also had several bowls with just beef meat in the same soup, it was delish!
Heading out for some coffee and supper now!

Day 4 in Malaysia today. I'm eating so much (good) food that I'm really quite worried about ballooning hahaha especially since I came here immed aft coming back from bkk.
Whenever I'm here there's always a few places/things I insist on eating, one of which being dimsum. We planned to go eat dimsum on tuesday but to my dismay my aunt said the place I wanted to go is always closed on tuesday.. I was thinking, then eat on weds, but my mom said why not go smwhere else? NO, hahaha that place was really too good to give up and go someplace else. In the end we were gonna go on wed, but on tues when we were in the car driving out to bfast, aunt called us from her car and said its open!! (to cater to hol crowd) I WAS SO HAPPY HAHAHA
Daddy in the picture!
Some of the stuff we ordered while waiting for the family to come.. Aft that I didn't wanna keep taking photos cause it seemed quite immature hahaha and I'm the only one at the table snapping away. THEIR STUFF IS SO GOOD, like I always rmbed it to be year aft year. Some restaurants have hits and misses but for me every single one of their dimsum dishes are rly good. Their har gaos have TWO hugeass fresh prawns, same for their siewmai and other dishes.
Diff from last yr where all the dimsums where pushed around in pushcarts by the servers, this time they cut down on the servers and had the more popular dishes in a self serving area where you go yrself ask the staff behind piles and piles of dimsum trays for wht you want. A lot more efficient.
I don't know why I'm expending so much effort talking about this, I think it was my own passion hahaha anyways gotta go out for some lei cha now and ngar choi gei tnight, yay!

Back from my bkk trip, slept for a whole day cause we had so little sleep in our time there!
Day 0
Arrived around 10pm to check in at citadines, loved gia's recommendation. The corridors had this weird musky smell, but stepping into the 2 bedroom apartment we had, I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was well furnished, we had a microwave, stoves, toasters, sinks. I loved how we came home to these things reminiscent of a real home setting, instead of a typical hotel room. Will definitely stay in other citadines if I get the chance to! Of course, it was even better for me cause I got the master bedroom to myself. MUAHAHA
We headed to Khaosan Rd area to search for this hole in the wall blues bar I wanted to go to, and it was only after some asking and walking around that we managed to find the incredibly small bar. It was too crowded though, so we headed to Khaosan instead. There were so many food stalls along the road but when we walked past this pad thai stall it smelt so delish we cld not resist.. and it turned out to be the best pad thai I've ever tasted. Really loved the pictorial menu too, it was so cute.
YUM. Salivating now at the thought of this.
Headed to Hwai Khwang night market aft Khaosan cause Khaosan's just a stretch of road and we finished there pretty quick. By the time we got back to the apartment it was 5am and we had to get up at 9 the next morning!! Talk about no sleep :')
Day 1
Breakfast in the morning, and since it was sunday I' m guessing everyone's itinerary was the same - chatuchak, obviously! I bought really little there, there wasn't much that I liked and majority of the time I spent shopping with the boys.
This time I was determined to find the real coconut ice cream, which I did find, and I had two good portions of it, it was so delicious! I usually hate coconut but this one doesn't have much coconut taste, it was just more like a refreshing perk me up.
Dinner at limoncello, which had a wonderful ambience, but the pizzas were pretty average and not exactly cheap. Being in the restaurant made me feel like I was in europe? Lovely home decor and mood lighting.
While the boys were watching their soccer match, I went for my only massage there, is was so comfortable and I was so tired I just ended up sleeping for most of it. The masseuse was so kind, she threw in some head and shoulder massage even though I just paid for feet.
The boys also had their suits tailor made at a place near our apartment. Business there is so competitive!
Day 2
I had to bring them to roast for breakfast, which I really enjoyed the last time I was there. Unfortunately I've only ever got to try their bfast items, really hope to go back there soon and try the dinner menu!
After bfast we headed to Mr Jone's orphanage. The last time I was here for roast in aug, it was still under renovation. This place is like, a fantasy dreamland restaurant? A lot of thought was put into the really cute and whimsical decor, something like Au Chocolat. They displayed all these lovely pretty pastries and desserts, I grabbed myself a red velvet cuppie. Next time I'd make sure to try their bfast!
Thereaft we went to pratunam market which we exited in fifteen minutes, there was absolutely nothing there that was of interest to us. My friend apparently saw me there and screamed my name several times, but I heard nothing hahaha. The world was so small, even overseas! When we were in chatuchak the prev day we bumped into arthur, and then kimberly.
We spent majority of our time in platinum, and I was so determined to shop properly that I literally shopped every lane on every level in a snake formation (people who have bn thr should knw wht I mean!), I was SO TIRED at the end of the day. When I left platinum armed with all my shopping I was devastated to see really bad traffic, so I walked to chid lom, took the bts to nana and walked back to the apartment, alone cause the boys finished first and went back to the tailor's for a fitting. Rly felt like collapsing.
Walked nearby to cabbages and condoms for dinner, it was interesting to see all the decor made out of colored condoms.
Next we went to another night market, where I had my portrait drawn for 80 baht. Yes, the artist obviously misrepresented the boobs. I am nowhere was well endowed hahaha.
Day 3
Breakfast at MBK's hong min, a chinese/hk restaurant cause I was dying for some dimsum and well, we were originally sposed to go HK, all the more fuelling my desire for some good cantonese food. Their siew mais were really good, but I was disappointed cause they didn't have any shrimp rolls on the menu. Are you kidding me!?
Also got my nails done, and went to the phone accessories level to get our phones pimped.
Went to Union mall, which was a first for me. I really liked that place though! It was like a more spacious platinum mall and the stuff there is less run of the mill. The top floors had some really nice electic stuff, some good buys there.
We were on our way to leave the mall when we saw this seoul grill which had a 320 baht buffet dinner, allowing you to get korean beef/pork to grill, and then also choose from a good range of sushis and other side dishes and ice cream/jelly/salads. There was also a steamboat around the grilling area so they had steamboat ingredients running on the conveyor belts, jap style so you can pick what you like. Food was decent and for the price there's really nothing to complain!
Right outside union mall, there was a mini night bazaar and this man was selling all these wonderful belts wtf we even arranged it by color, you tell me which girl can resist? I got really excited and started to go crazy hahaha in the end, we bought 20 belts from him and persuaded him to give me 2 for free. He was grinning from ear to ear, so was I HAHAHA
I bought about ten belts for myself, all in differing colors. I know it looks a bit cray but I always have those days I buy a new dress/top and then when I'm dressing I just think how awesome it wld be to have a pink/turquoise/yellow belt to go with whatever I'm wearing? Well now, problem solved!! :D
Rest of the trip another day/tomorrow!
