Over

So, I finally got some breathing space from the chaos of Friday with the send-offs and completing unfinished work.. IT'S OVER.
I've really enjoyed myself these ten weeks, especially because the dynamics of the museum team is vastly different from the comms team. But this time goodbye means goodbye to the whole of mbs, and gosh I'd really miss all these damn wonderful people.
Managed to lunch with some of them during my last week, but I didn't get to meet some of them at all :'( But I'd always go back to see y'all and revisit my second home! ♥♥♥
With thomas, who was also having his last day in comms
With Damien after we surrendered our passes to HR. Bye Damien, wish you luck in greener pastures!
Preddy Bhavna
Comms girls. Our colours so jewely that day hahaha
My favourite jon vista!
My another favourite michy mich! I'd miss chatting w you :')
My smiley winky boss! ;p
Opening one of our many presents from the museum team ♥
To give an idea of how big these frames were. SO AWESOME NO?? Such a perfect gift from the museum team, so damn apt!
This is modelled after the wanted posters in Harry Potter. If you visit the Harry Potter exhibition now, in the section just before you reach the Great Hall, you would see similar wanted posters for Sirius Black and Bellatrix etc. Chee Wei and Elise, our in house graphic designers, did this from scratch!! And changed all the words, so cute hahaha. Such an awesome awesome gift.
N Tyler tie for my boss
Photo frames for everyone. I made them hold up really embarrassing signs that said stuff like "I feel inferior and incapable in comparison to them" and "What did we do to deserve such awesome interns" LOLOL
Notes for each of em
W Amanda, the other intern. That's our office which we call the triangle room because oddly enough, its triangle shaped.
W Shirleen
W Sue
For dinner they brought us to Roland's restaurant, where we had awesome crabs and seafood and received more gifts from them. It was a lovely friday, to be remembered in years to come. This experience has been rewarding in so many ways!

Feeling the adrenaline tonight.
This evening as I was about to leave the workplace jeff called me to say "come to waku ghin now, your boss needs to talk to you". So off to waku ghin I went, and as I strode into the restaurant four of their staff flanked both sides of the entrance, standing ready and opened the doors for me. A chorus of welcomes, good evenings and warm smiles. That's an impressive reception, I must say.
Sitting at the bar was Minn Ross Jeff Damien Jerms.. Sending off Damien no doubt. As the waiter helped me onto the bar stool, I saw each of them with a cocktail. Behind the bar, Kaza-san works his magic, patron saint of cocktails and wines. I expected a menu to be passed to me but Minn just said "Tell Kaza-san what you want. Sweet, fruity.." Surprising ordering method, but so refreshing at the same time. Of course, I expect this to only work for really good bartenders. I told Kaza-san "something with cranberry, or strawberry, berries are just good for me" and I left him to his creative expertise. This is what he came up with, that's him in the background:
Looks like some prune mush but MAN it tasted heavenly. Left me wanting more. And as we chatted the rest just kept ordering, and so I was wondering what to order next when Minn ordered a salty dog. It was grapefruit vodka, with some salt on the rim. I tasted it and I loved it, so I ordered the same. Strangely enough, the two drinks that I ordered didn't taste alcoholic at all, more like a mocktail? But ten minutes after I finished the drinks the alcohol started rushing to my head and yes, that familiar rush of dizzy happiness filled my head. Can I just say I love you, Kaza-san? You are a master at masking the bitter taste alcohols have.
I love the details that Kaza-san puts in preparing each and every drink.. It was a pleasure watching him prepare everything in front of us. There was never those messy pipe dispenser things I saw in Zouk and other wine bars. Everything was nicely refrigerated, categorized and kept in their bottles. For the salt, he grated a piece of rock salt before carefully lining the rims with the grated salt. Kaza-san then passed around some truffle salt for us to take a whiff of. Ir was pure sex in a dish. For Jerm's drink, in it was a single piece of ice, apparently crafted from a block of ice, multi-faceted (think igloos and diamonds). Jerms said it had to be carved from a block of ice instead of just frozen in a mould to prevent air bubbles. The attention to detail and presentation is just so, so impressive!
I tried Jeff's bloody mary and it was all kinds of awesome. Incredibly different from the other bloody marys I've ever had. I guess all this comes down to the fact that all of us, especially me, enjoyed their service, food, and the general experience with zero complaints. Their cocktails weren't cheap, probably 30$ bordering on 40$, but even if I did pay, I would be a happy paying customer. The thing I love about wg is that as much as their prices are ridiculously out of range for many, and with all the heavy accolades, their service direction is clean, simple, classy and sincere. Different from other expensive restaurants who try too hard and are pretentious. I can't wait till the day where my finances allow me to dine their 10-course degustation menu.
The reason for this post titled so is just because recently, I've come to be extremely thankful of my job, the perks and how the people around me are so incredibly generous. And now that I'm back a second time, my circle there has expanded and I'm just so happy to be part of that community. Sometimes I'm just tweeting and tweeting about how awesome the perks are and I'm thinking "Shitfuck, what have I done to deserve all of these?" Nothing, actually, so I guess D's right, in some way, I am leading my own version of a charmed life. At least at mbs.
Making my point

It is that time, to say that damn, time has passed so wickedly fast. In just the blink of an eye eight weeks has passed and I am almost at the end of my internship! While this part of me is extremely tired of the 9-6 hours and early morning train rides, for the most part I really feel like I'm already an working adult, exactly like T said. I've been working full time for almost a year, which is a really long time. The cubicle and desktop for me really holds no allure, but the interaction with colleagues and meeting new people just creates this constant flow of positive, positive energy that works for me so well. I keep wondering what it would be like to work in another place besides MBS, where my work environment would be entirely different. The dynamism of being in hospitality and the forefront of all things happening makes me always excited about work. I like being able to step out of my office and not see other office ladies and men swarming the streets, like in Shenton Way. Like ants. Stepping out of my office, I see people. Tourists with their hats, maps in hand, asking for directions. Locals coming here for lunches and dinner with their family and friends, checking in for a staycation. Students touring for a out-of-school trip, squealing in excitement. Delegates in suits, easily identifiable with their lanyards, briefcases in hand. Comrades, walking around the property, or stationed at their workstations. I see this bustling resort sustained by a group of dedicated, capable individuals all working together in a big, 9000 strong team.
Almost a month ago, we threw opening parties for Harry Potter, and witnessed for ourselves the madness of fans. You'd think their passion would be completely separate from us, but its surprising how it rubs off on us. We may not understand the fervour, but we appreciate it. Every morning when I receive a daily digest email from google alerts, I read blogposts about excited visitors reviewing their museum experience and feel good that our marketing efforts have succeeded. Before I joined the team, I thought we can rest easy because c'mon, its Harry Potter. Do we really need to sell the exhibition? But we do. There are only so many fans, who are bound to visit during the first few weeks. For the rest of the time the exhibit is in the museum, the interest and crowd doesn't sustain itself. Long before I came in, marketing plans have been crafted and laid out to ensure the hype is always there. And that's quite amazing in itself. So much I don't know, so much I have to learn.
So this time when I leave, it'd be doubly hard. When I ended my internship with communications last year, I never thought I would come back to this family. And now that I have, how can I leave - again? :'( My bosses, ex and now has been so incredibly kind to let me know they are leaving their doors open. Whether or not I come back and work after graduation is definitely something I'd consider seriously. And then of course there is this eternal dilemma - marketing or communications? I have 1.5 more years to figure that out. For now, I am only thankful for these two wonderful internship opportunities; I didn't have to put in much effort to get them but so much has been given to me in return. x

My 21st birthday was a simple affair. I like it this way, with only the people that matter, and over meals so I have the chance to really talk to them. I know I said I wanted to do a full post on it but there isn't really much to say, except that it was a great birthday! My colleagues were really sweet, they brought me to Imperial Treasures for lunch, all the while pretending we were going to eat at the team dining room. And I only realized after the reason why they chose to eat there was because one time during lunch I commented about how I was craving for dimsum :') On thursday night the folks came to my house to surprise me also, thank you all so much! ♥ Through the weekend and the week after it was a series of meals with friends, some of which I'm glad I reconnected with.
P.S. I realized I'm always ditching this space because I've become twitter/instagram obsessed. Everything I post there, I'd just be duping the info here :( I'd try to blog more!
Just thoughts
People who disappoint. People you love. Sad thing is more often than not, the more you love someone, the more they disappoint you.
