Read the signs wrong
Loved the wrong people
Took a leap of faith
Talked under the stars
Waltzed to the wrong dance
Felt our hearts weaken
Let emotions take over
Felt a little more brave
Were true to our feelings

Update!
Wednesday, January 08, 2014

How long has it been since I've done a proper update post? Too long. (Haha, reminds me of the times in accounting class. We would practically answer "too ___" to every question the professor asked.) Life hasn't been all that different, though in some ways, it actually has because.... I've graduated!!

The last semester in school saw me being perhaps the most lazy because I've so little motivation. And after 15 years of studying... I am done. Truly done with studying. Time to throw myself into that ruthless, dog eat dog world, as they all say. It doesn't scare me though. It excites me, at the thought of being all corporate and finally getting a start on my career. I mean, after all, isn't this what education is preparing us for?

Time to actually send in my resumes. I've been whiling my time away, too lazy to refine my resume and craft those tiresome cover letters. Tomorrow! I will get started tomorrow.

On another note, I wanted to share my first experience at Banyan Tree today. It was so amazing! I have Jon to thank for giving me such a thoughtful (and incredibly generous) christmas gift.

I've actually been to Banyan Tree countless times when I interned, and brought media there for tea and filming. Hence I'm pretty familiar with the place but it was my first time as a patron and actually receive the massage so it was all really exciting xx

The wall behind the reception counter, which has always enthralled me. I've mentioned this many times to the media (and had them also telling me) that upon reaching the 55th floor and stepping out of the lift and into the reception area, it instantaneously feels different. Like you've entered some sort of a sanctuary. The decor and ambiance's really well done.

I could choose between several options including the Balinese, Island Dew and Lomi Lomi massages, but eventually stuck with Balinese as it was the most popular. During reception I was served an amazing tea (more on their teas later) and introduced to my masseuse Cat (hahaha I always like their predictable names) who escorted me into my spa suite.

A foot bath and some quick massages later, I was asked to pick the incense I wanted for the room. I love this part. I picked Rose (yes, I am predictable too). Another thing I really liked about the room was the massage bed. It was heated and it felt soo comfortable with the room being air-conditioned. I opted for medium-strong pressure on the massage for some legit deep tissue relaxation hahaha. At one point during the massage she inserted a heated towel under my neck/shoulder area and massaged with it. Holy cow. It felt fucking good. It was a this-is-it-I'm-sold moment.

Cat gave my shoulders extra attention as I requested, which was nice. She even massaged the face and head very thoroughly. Time passed too fast when I was on that bed getting all the kinks in my muscles kneaded. I enjoyed every minute!

Post massage selfie. I swear the lighting in the washroom was too good to pass up.

And then escorted to another room for drinks and some fruit salad. The tea they serve here is their signature lemongrass tea, different from the one they served at reception, and quite honestly one of the best teas I've ever tasted. I should have asked if there was any way I could have bought some. I don't think I've ever seen any of the media I've brought up to BT not praise the tea. It is that good! And also perfect for relaxing. I left some generous comments for the place in general and Cat. I whiled some time away in this space sipping tea and um ogling at the guys working out in the gym across in Tower 2. Hahahahaha it was a perfect end to the whole session and I felt truly pampered. Thank you Jon xxxxx

The thing I like about BT the most? Their attention to detail. Whenever I was turned to lie on my back, they would always cover my eyes with a thin gauze, and then a scented (and I believe heated) eye pillow. The strength of the scent could be adjusted as well. When I first stepped into the suite it was bright and sunny with a nice view of the marina that I could enjoy while getting my footbath, but once I changed and stepped out of the attached washroom the lights were dimmed, candles lit, blinds drawn, with my incense of choice burning. The lights in the washroom was also adjusted different pre and post massage to cater to the need for retouching makeup. Very thoughtful. I never felt like Cat scurried to get things done perfectly, if you know what I mean. It was all done in a very seamless, efficient way, like they weren't trying to impress at all. But it did, and would be the main reason why I would return for another experience.
Don't you think

I think I like straddling the lines. Between right and wrong, yes and no, black and white. Life is so much more exciting when its unpredictable.
Enjoy the moment
Sunday, December 29, 2013

So when they say things like "enjoy the moment, take it all in", how do you do it?

Do you take a deep breath, close your eyes and listen to the nuances and white noise and all those other sounds?

Do you look slowly around you and try to capture what you see in a mental picture?

Visuals are easy. What about interaction? How do we capture a touch, a smile, a word?

I feel like I don't do it well enough. I need to remember better, because at the end of it all, memories might be all that's left.

"I think it’s great for two people to be together. That is a good number. I think, that to keep it alive though, you can’t spend every day together. It wears out the magic, Love means nothing to me if it’s not fortified with fierce, painful longing, brief explosive instances of furious passion and intimacy and then a sad parting for a time. In that way, you can give your life to it and still have a life of your own. I think some couples spend too much time together. They flatten out the potential for experience by constant closeness. Passion builds over time like steam. Let it rage until it’s exhausted and then leave it alone to let it build up again. Why can’t love be insane and distorted? How can it be vital if it has the same threshold as normal day-to-day experience?

Why can’t you write burning letters and let your nocturnal self smolder with desire for one who is not there? Why not let the days before you see her be excruciating and ferment in your mind so on the day you go to the airport to pick her up, you’re nearly sick with anticipation? And then when desire shows the first sign of contentment, throw it back it its cage and let it slowly build itself back into a state of starved fury. Then when you are together, it all matters. So that when you look into her eyes, you lose your balance, so that when she touches you, it feels like you have never been touched before. When she says your name, you think it was she who named you. When she has gone, you bury your face in the pillow to smell her hair and you lie awake at night remembering your face in her neck, her breathing and the amazing smell of her skin. Your eyes go wet because you want her so bad and miss her so much. Now that is worth the miles and the time. That matches the inferno of life. Otherwise you poison each other with your presence day after day as you drag each other through the inevitable mundane aspects of your lives. That is the slow death that I see slapped on faces everywhere I go. It’s part of the world’s sadness that’s more empty than cold, poorly lit rooms in cities of the American night."
